Portable Document Format, also known as PDF has become popular across the world. This is probably because of how convenient it is when it comes to creating and sharing documents compared to other alternatives.

Most professionals prefer using Adobe readers when opening their PDF documents for various reasons. Although Adobe reader allows one to carry out several tasks like reading and highlighting, Adobe Acrobat is more advanced and specialized. You can easily create and edit a PDF as well as incorporate security features.

In other words, there’s a lot that one can do with Adobe Reader. If you have some basic computer knowledge, you definitely have an idea of how to use Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Here are 5 tips and tricks for PDF files:

1. Adding form fields

With Acrobat, it is possible to create forms that can be filled and sent to several recipients for data collection. To make it even better, Adobe has an intelligence software that automatically converts blanks spaces without requiring your help.

How do you create a fillable form? The first thing you need to do is to create a form with enough empty spaces, convert it into a PDF file and open the file in Adobe Acrobat. After that, click on “More tools” on the Acrobat window. You will find an option called “prepare form” on the page that opens.

2. Reducing the size of a PDF file

There are situations where you are supposed to scan documents in high resolution or with a lot of colors and large dimensions. This will definitely lead to a very large file that will make it difficult to transfer or send as an email attachment.

But you shouldn’t worry much about that because you can easily reduce the size of your PDF in a split of seconds. All you have to do is open the document in Adobe Acrobat and select “optimize Scanned PDF” from the open document. Drag the size slider in the window that opens to an appropriate compression level and press Ok.

3. Convert any type of content into PDF

Programs like Microsoft Word allow you to turn almost anything into PDF. But with Adobe Acrobat, you can do more than just converting docs into PDF. It doesn’t matter whether it is an image, a photo, or anything that you want to turn into PDF, you have several options to do so.

4. Adding the print option

Most of your PDF files are going to be accessed through a browser by your recipients. However, the print option that’s always found on the browser may not permit them to print the documents. That’s why you need to add the print button to your PDF document.

To be able to do that, open the document in Acrobat and go straight to the Tools menu. Under the “create and edit” section, select “Rich Media”. The rest of the process is simple.

5. Editing images

It is also easy to edit images in a PDF file. Start by opening your PDF in Acrobat and click the image to be edited. Select the “edit image” from the options that appear.

In general, there are many ways you can play around with your PDF file. For example, you can add the print option, reduce the file size, edit images, and much more.
