B9Creations introduces B9 Core Med 500 “medical” printer

A US-based company B9Creations offers specialized solutions for medical and dental industries – professional B9 Core Med 500 SLA 3D printer and a new series of  biocompatible BioRes resins.

Based in South Dakota, USA, B9Creations company has been developing and manufacturing desktop SLA additive systems since 2011. The company’s newest offer is the B9 Core Med 500 3D printer, a version of the B9 Core line flagship. The device relies on DLP 3D printing technology, using a digital HD projector with ultraviolet illumination for photopolymer curing.

The system is capable of printing products with dimensions of up to 103x58x130 mm or several smaller parts at the same time. The z-axis print speed varies between 15-120 mm/h. The pixel size is 53.6 microns. The overall dimensions of the device do not exceed 267x420x593 mm. Data transfer is possible via Wi-Fi, Ethernet or USB-drive. It takes less than fifteen minutes to prepare and start the system after unpacking. The equipment complies with international standards IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2 for medical electrical products.

Although in practice, the 3D printer is able to work with any resins optimized for curing by 405-nanometer UV-beam, including structural polymers and materials from third-party manufacturers, part of the new solution are special, biologically safe materials for medical and dental prototyping, production of anatomical models, surgical instruments and wearable devices.

At first, the company offers two versions of biocompatible BioRes resin in two colors – white and red. The material is created in accordance with the ISO 10993 requirements and is designed to allow the use of finished products in direct contact with the skin for up to thirty days. The range of biocompatible materials will expand.

B9creations products are used by such companies as Procter & Gamble, 3M and Kulzer, as well as the US National Institutes of Health. This proves that although nowadays almost anyone can choose and get a 3D printer they desire for a hobby or a job, large companies will find ways to utilize this technology on a greater level.
