The Brave browser is chromium-based as it is based on the same tech as Google Chrome, and it is very much against unwanted advertisements on online websites. It is also a very safe browser in which the privacy of the user is also of utmost importance. First of all, the Brave browser deals with the trackers, and in this way, the person can customize his or her own privacy and only do the things that suit the convenience of the individual.
Protection and Security
One of the promising features of brave browser is Shields. With the help of this feature, most of the annoying ads can be blocked as this tool plays its role in the blockage of third-party trackers and also any of the ads linked with these third party trackers. Moreover, advertisements and first-party cookies can be blocked manually. The person using this browser can adjust the tracking settings on his or her own.
Adjustment in Settings
To change the settings of the Shield, follow the given steps:
- First of all, go to the page of Settings. At the bottom right of the new page, there is a cog icon, you can click here to access these settings, or on the top right corner, you can find a three-line icon, click that and then click on the option of Settings. There, you can select Shield.
- The Shield page provides the default settings of two types, which are Simple View and the other Advanced View. You will find them after clicking on the lion icon, which is to the right of the address bar.
- In here, you can also get your hands on the options of blocking the cross-site trackers as on or off. Also, you can adjust the cookie settings there, which present three options, “Allow all cookies,” “Block all cookies,” and the third one as “Only block cross-site cookies.” You can also block scripts there.
- Then, if you would like to view or change the settings of the types of crackers that you allowed or blocked on any website, you will only have to click on the lion icon that will give you an informative drop-down window.
- If you choose Advanced View, you can see if you blocked any scripts, or you can see the list of the individual trackers that the Brave browser download blocked by clicking on the option of “Cross-site trackers blocked.” On the other side, by choosing the Simple View, you can switch the Shields off in case they are causing any problem on the website that you are using, and you can also see the number of blocked trackers.
- You can also toggle between Advanced and Simple views by using the link that is available on the bottom of the drop-down window.
- You can also fine-tune the cookie settings that are pretty much like Google Chrome by going to Settings and then to “Advanced Settings,” following, “Privacy and Security.” Then, “Site Settings” on the center menu and then from “Cookie and Site Data,” you can manually set the things as you like.
