I’d reckon that most people who are adults know how to take care of themselves hygienically (well, maybe not the guy who decided to sit next to you specifically on the bus). It’s something we learn and have drilled into us since puberty by all the adults around us.
Shower often because you are going to start to sweat more! Put on deodorant often to keep yourself from smelling up the place! Wash your feet well so you don’t smell or get an infection! Don’t forget behind your ears! And on and on and on.
By now, we are all so used to being hygienic, that we sneer at anyone who seems like they are trying to reinvent the wheel and go back to playing poker at Vegas casino online.
I mean, seriously, what could I possibly tell you that you don’t know already? Well, there are actually a few small changes to your current hygiene schedule that I think could be very beneficial to implement into our daily lives.
Shower Times
Most people I know seem to shower in the morning unless they specifically did something that day to get them dirty such as playing a sport, working out, or any other kind of nasty work that can get you dirty or sweaty.
However, I would put forth that it makes more sense, is more hygienic, saves more time, and is better for your house to shower in the evening rather than the morning! I will tackle each of these categories one by one now.
First of all, it makes more sense because of the other categories. This is not really a category, I just wanted to keep some kind of continuity to this so you wouldn’t think I forgot about one.
For real though, there are many reasons why I think showering in the evening is way more hygienic than showering in the morning. This all revolves around a little place you are going to spend about a third of your life; in your bed.
Think about it, especially during the times of the CoronaVirus, it is much more healthy and clean to shower before you go to bed than in the morning. Imagine where your body has been!
First of all, I hope that all of you at least wash your hands with soap and water when you come home, but now think about the rest of your body! Your hands get dirty the most because of touching things like door knobs, latches, keyboards, bus poles, etc.
However, your body can get just as dirty as your hands! You sit down on a bus and lean against the window. Now you have whatever nastiness, child’s snot, old man’s sneeze, or whatever else is on that window on your arm and possibly your head.
Another thing is your hair. Most people probably run their hands through their hair throughout the day. I doubt most people are fanatical enough to wash their hands every time before they touch their hair.
So, now whatever you had on your hands is now in your hair. A nice warm, fluffy, oily, humid place for bacteria to hang out. Then, you come home and touch your hair again. Your hands are now dirty again from whatever was in your hair.
Remember when you leaned your arm against the window of the bus? Or maybe the armrest of a bench in the park? Well, now you go to sleep and rest your head on your arm. You just put your face on your arm where you touched something else dirty.
And that is how disease spreads. Someone sneezes on something, and then you touch it and touch your face. Or someone coughs into their hand then shakes yours. It is important to be mindful now more than ever about how we can get sick.
Now, by better for your house I really mean your bed. By showering in the evening before we go onto our beds, we can keep our sheets clean longer, help prevent acne by not having oils and other contaminants build up on our pillows, keep our bedding from stinking, and keep debris off our beds.
Even if you don’t do sporty activities, I guarantee that most people still get at least some level of sweaty or smelly feet just by having them in our shoes all day. So, if you don’t clean them then it will also get onto our beds.
All that sweat and oil you build up in your hair can also get onto your pillow cases, which eventually can cause problems if you let it accumulate too long. Even if it never causes you problems in that way, it can just simply start to smell and get gross.
Finally, by keeping debris off our beds, I’m talking about all the dust, crumbs, shards of glass, or other nastiness that you track around on the bottoms of your feet or socks by walking around your house.
Third, It’s better for time because It gives you all the time you have in the evening to shower, rather than the limited time you have in the morning. It can sometimes be a really stressful rush to get everything done in the morning, and showers usually take up a good chunk of your time.
And, if you have a family, this gets even worse! Imagine you, your spouse, and all of your kids have to all shower in the morning. It can become such a mess of everyone having to take turns.
Especially if you all have to get up at the same time. Then you could have 4 to six people all needing to shower in the morning and it becomes a mess.
But, if you can split some of those showers to the evening before (or even all of those showers!) then it will take up less time in the morning and be less stressful on everyone about getting ready.
Relaxation
Now, this isn’t really a hygiene reason, but ending the day with a nice shower can be really nice to relieve stress or “wash away” some of the worries of the day for a little bit. The hot (or cool if you live in a hot climate) water can be quite refreshing and comforting.
Stress is a huge problem in modern society. And, stress has been shown to cause people to sweat more. Which can lead to stronger body odor. So, a little de-stressing now and again can be quite beneficial to you.
