Skincare? There’s an App for That!

One of the best things of living in this age is that there is an app for almost anything. There are apps to catch a ride from one place to another, apps to give you the weather forecast, apps to shop for your favourite merchandise, apps to deliver groceries, apps to find dates, and even apps to pay your bills. This is hardly surprising because as consumers, most of us spend 89% of our mobile screen time in apps.  We are living in the future only imagined by the shows we grew up watching.

The facts that people prefer to use apps is largely because of two main reasons:

  • Apps target specific needs of consumers and can be tailored to suit the demands of any niche audience.
  • They are just so convenient. Apps offer the whole world at your fingertips and often for free!

Ask any young person to do something these days, and they will first check to see if there is an app to help them do it. Though it may seem strange, but there are even apps that can help you in your clear skin regime. All you need to do is download these apps and hey presto! You have the world of skincare at your fingertips. Skin care apps give you access to customized beauty regimens, skincare advice, and even expert advice from dermatologists to help you get the clear skin you have always wanted.

Here are some Free Apps to help you achieve your skincare goals

Table of Contents

Think Dirty

Nothing lewd as the name might suggest, he Think Dirty app actually works by identifying and assessing any ingredients in beauty and skincare products that could potentially be toxic or risky. App founder, Lily Tse, developed this app when she wanted to find safer replacements for toxic ingredients found in beauty products because of a family history of cancer. Think Dirty works to empower and educate consumers and allows them to make an informed decision on what products to use.

All you need to do is use the app to scan the barcode of any product, and Think Dirty will give you of all its ingredients and the potential health hazard they pose. It can also recommend safe product alternatives.

RYNKL

Pronounced wrinkle, this app is your own personal wrinkle doctor. It works to analyse whether the anti-aging products you’re using actually work. The app uses artificial intelligence to track signs of aging on your skin. Users take and upload periodic selfies, and RYNKL pinpoints existing lines and wrinkles. It also marks potential trouble spots where fine lines may be beginning to form and alert you so you can address them. By charting your progress and gauging whether your skin treatments are actually working, this app acts like an honest friend who tells you whether to keep or ditch your current products or regimen.

sunZapp

Sun damage is a serious concern protection from over exposure is the best way to keep your skin healthy and prevent premature aging. sunZapp helps you avoid sunburn when you have to be out and about in the sun. The app uses weather forecasts and info about your skin type to make suggestions for optimal sun protection based on what your planned activities for the day are. The app allows you to create separate profiles for your entire family so all of you can be protected. It also clocks your UV exposure and alerts you when it’s time to reapply sunblock.

There are many other apps that provide similar and different skincare services, so explore your options. I am waiting for the day they develop an app to download clothes.
