To be parents must consider how much time they can afford to give to their child and prepare for extra help if needed. HOW TO CARE FOR A NEWBORN

A newborn baby demands more attention than any other age the baby. This is the time that their skin and hair should be treated with extra care and only special products without any harmful chemicals must be used on their skin and hair like Aveeno baby products.

Other tips to care for a newborn are:

  1. A newborn baby has specific nutritional needs. It needs to be fed by either the mother or using a baby formula but very frequently.

The baby must be fed once every 2-3 hours. Mother’s breast milk is the best for the baby as it contains antibodies that enhance the baby’s immunity for the future and also helps in the growth and development of the mind.

  1. Holding the baby properly is extra important as their muscles and bones are very soft and not fully developed. It is important to carefully hold the baby’s neck and give support to the head by one hand while holding the baby’s body with the other hand.
  1. A newborn baby also needs frequent diaper changes, at least 10 each day. The baby’s bowel movements are fast. Diapers should be checked and changed soon after they are full.

Also, use a diaper wipe to clean the baby but make sure that the wipes are disinfectant and chemical free. Using a diaper rash cream or baby powder would help keep the baby’s skin dry and fresh.

  1. A baby must sleep for about 16 hours a day through frequent naps of 3-4 hours. They usually wake up if they are hungry or wet. Parents need to carefully place their baby’s heads in alternate positions so that their skull forms a round shape.

It is also suggested that the mother sleeps with her baby most of the time. If the mother needs to bathe or have a peaceful time by herself, this is the best time.

The baby must also be laying in a position such that they lie on their backs to avoid suffocation. Sleeping close to the baby will also make them feel safe through the night.
