Types of Solitaire Game: What Should You Know?

Solitaire continues to be a popular game in the world since it was introduced by Microsoft. The game will probably continue to exist even in the generations to come. This is because Solitaire always advances and evolves. There are multiple versions of this game that exist, most of them are already highlighted below.

Klondike

Klondike is the typical Solitaire Masters which most people know about. It always comes in most computers with a Windows OS. Whereas it is not the best of solitaire versions, Klondike is the most popular variant because it is considered to be the foundation of any Solitaire game. Knowing how to play it, you can learn the other versions quickly and precisely.

Klondike comprises a 52-card deck and does not include the jokers. After shuffling, seven cards are placed from left to right. From left, each card is one more than the previous one. This means the first on the left is one card and the last is seventh with seven cards. The card at the top faces up the rest in place face down. The term used the Klondike piles is a tableau pile. Empty piles are filled with King. The end game is to have four piles with Ace at the start and end with King. This way, one wins, besides using other methods to do the same.

FreeCell

FreeCell is another type of Solitaire. This game also comes with Windows OS just like Klondike. Whereas Klondike might appear easy with people messing around, FreeCell requires logic and strategy. Multiple games copy its puzzle-like style. In this game, cards are in an order that allows them to move into free cells easily. Be careful moving cards given that once the card has been moved, it cannot be popped out of the FreeCell. One way to get it out is to ensure the stack of cards is in the right number. However, this cannot happen if there are no open free cells and tableaux in the game.

Spider

This game joins in the list of the most common solitaire variant. Spider solitaire is not the game for a casual to win. The player needs to be a creative thinker to win a game. The game uses two decks of cards. The game is exciting when multiple cards are used. It also requires a lot of concentration. Spider ends up in foundation slots which consist of stacks that are in descending order. The result is a pattern resembling that of a spider web; hence the name of the game. Be careful about the choice you make when stacking the cards to avoid wasting your moves.

Yukon

The game is like the Klondike version, with the difference being that face-up cards are movable without a need for sequence. Yukon often comes with the Russian Solitaire. It only uses a single deck. The cards are arranged from left to right with the first card standing alone. The rest up to the seventh is a card more than the previous one. A king or any stack with the King at the top is movable to an empty column.

Forty Thieves

If you are looking to play one of the most challenging versions amongst the Solitaire games, then Forty Thieves is the best one. The game has put together the basics common to the other types of this game. The game is more compelling given it has two decks and that one can move the whole stack to an already existing one. Any card that is not in a stack can be moved to an empty space. The foundation is made by arranging the cards from the Ace to King.

Pyramid

This one is a little different from the other Solitaire games. The idea is to remove each card that makes the pyramid. To do this, the player gets to match two cards that sum up to 13. That is why the right match can be 7 and 6, 4 and 9, and 5 and 8. The Ace is ranked as one, Jack as 11, Queen as 12, and the King as 13. The pyramid in question has 28 cards all in the seven rows.

In pyramid solitaire, there is a stock on the left of your page. Clicking the area draws cards to the stock in each existing pile. Any pile that does not cover the cards is later removed. The game starts at the bottom and shifts to the top. In the process, cards are revealed as you remove the cards from the bottom.

Scorpion

Scorpion is also among the challenging games in Solitaire. The game uses one deck and encapsulates, it also brings together sets of 13 cards in order; from the King to the Ace. Scorpion is easier than Spider solitaire. You could start with it before trying to play Spider Solitaire. This game somewhat resembles Yukon, given that cards facing up can be moved irrespective of the way they are arranged. In the game, cards are removed from the tableau and moved to the right side of the board. The cards are placed in descending order, not necessarily having to be in the same suit. However, the King must always be used in the slots that open the tableau. The stock card on your right is usable when you are stuck and left without a next plan of action.

Solitaire games continue to be interesting to users. The game has a number of versions, such as Klondike, Spider, Pyramid, Scorpion, among the rest.
