Pokemon Live-Action Series in Early Development at Netflix

For as long as we can remember, without the Pokemon TV show there wouldn’t be a Pokemon video game. The Pokemon anime series came to the United States just a few weeks before the first Pokemon games were launched, so as far as we can recollect, the Pokemon TV series came to existence before the introduction of its video games.

Over the years, we’ve witnessed many Pokemon spin-offs and miniseries, and now, Netflix wants to deliver the biggest Pokemon series to the world this time around, as cited by online casinos south Africa.

Netflix is reportedly working on a live-action Pokemon series, according to major reports. These reports were sighted from sources with some knowledge on the project, which claims that Joe Henderson will be writing the series while serving as its executive producer.

Henderson is known to be the co-showrunner and executive producer of Netflix’s Lucifer, and since the TV series is about to come up with its final season, this seems to correlate with the timing of the Pokemon TV series.

Variety’s sources also claimed that this new series will draw some similarities to ‘Detective Pikachu’, released in 2019 and starred Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith, but it remains unclear what kind of narrative this series will follow.

An obvious and the most common plot narrative will be the one, which is being used in anime series and video games, in which a set of children goes on an adventure to become Pokemon trainers when they clock 10 years of age. The anime series looks at the journey of a young Ash Ketchum as he adventures throughout the regions introduced.

Netflix will be a great place for a new Pokemon series. The streaming service already has several Pokemon contents available to its users, from the first season of the main anime series to the spin-offs like Pokemon Journeys. A live-action Pokemon series could prove to be a challenge, as there isn’t that much live-action content that could be found in the Pokemon universe. Detective Pikachu is the only movie that we could regard as a live-action in the Pokemon world and also featured a scene from real money online casino.

We are still awaiting further confirmations, especially from Netflix itself, which could be considered as the most important, but we should also note that the project is still in its early days, so it might take a while before Netflix will be ready to deliver some announcements to the media.

Netflix has been making some journey into the anime world in the last few years now, having announced the original series based on “far Cry,” “Terminator,” and “Splinter Cell.” Netflix has also been invested in live-action adaptations of anime series, with upcoming live-action projects like “One Piece” and “Cowboy Bepop.” Back in 2017, the streaming service released the live-action of the Death Note anime series.
