The C.F. Orr Stakes 2021 – Latest News History & Tips

CF Orr Stakes is a premier horse racing competition in Melbourne, Australia. It brings together a particular breed of horse known as the Thoroughbred, which is known for racing. The horse should be of the Weight of Age to participate since its adaptability for racing is unique. The championship occurs at the Caulfield Recourse, where the participating horses have to run for 1400 to determine the winner.

The championship got its current name from Charles F. Orr, a former horse racing executive from Williamstown. Before moving to Caulfield racecourse, the race occurred at the Williamstown Racecourse, which has since been closed. In honour of the fallen secretary and chairman of the organising committee, the race was renamed CF Orr Stakes.

Race History

The original track at Williamson was 1600 metres, where the race happened for 15 years. Since then, the race distance has been oscillating between 1400 and 1600, and finally settled at 1400 in 1973. Likewise, the racing track has alternated between 5 venues before settling on the current Caulfield in 1997.

The race has grown from a principle race in 1925 to attain its Group 1 status in 1993. This makes it a premier horse racing competition in Melbourne. In the last 10 years, Typhoon Tracy won the championship twice (2010 and 2011). Since then, no Thoroughbred has won any race more than once, including the reigning Alabama Express.

The 2021 Championship

The Caulfield Racecourse will host this year’s edition on February 6th, 2021. It will feature all Thoroughbred Weight of Age horses from all over the country. There are no qualification races, which makes the race a final. The winner takes home $500,000 price money.

Type of Bets available for Gamers

  • Trifecta – placing stakes on the horse that will finish in positions 1, 2 and 3.
